Now more than ever, it is important to support businesses as they become even more resilient through a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery. That’s why the Government of Canada is proud to announce an upcoming virtual trade mission focused on:
Canada and France have a long-standing, close relationship based on a common history and language, shared values, and diversified cooperation. As like-minded countries with ambitious plans for a green economy, both Canada and France are working together to promote multilateralism and progressive values, including gender equity and implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
As the second largest economy of Europe and Canada’s ninth largest merchandise trading partner, France is an interesting market for innovative Canadian companies looking to expand through exports and partnerships.
Specifically, the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) provides Canadian businesses with preferential access to excellent opportunities for growth in the EU. The CETA eliminates tariffs and reduces barriers for virtually all sectors and aspects of Canada-EU trade, and has been a significant success story for Canadian and French exporters and economies. Bilateral trade has increased by 23% since the agreement provisionally entered into force in September 2017.

This trade mission has two program streams: an Exploratory Stream for companies in all sectors that are interested in and/or preparing to export to France, and an Exporter Stream for companies in targeted sectors of the green economy that are already export-ready.
