Atlantic Canada Aquaculture Technology and Trade Mission to South America/AquaSur October 15 – 20, 2018

NOTE: This opportunity has expired or is an event which has already taken place.

Building on the past successes at Aquaculture Exhibitions, the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA) is currently seeking expressions of interest from Atlantic Canadian companies that want to meet and explore technology and trade opportunities with key South American stakeholders this fall.

The Atlantic Canadian delegation will aim to develop key strategic markets within Chile and South America and continue to focus its efforts within the industry through trade development and technology partnerships and transfers.

This mission offers an unparalleled opportunity to make new contacts with seafood and aquaculture companies, to explore technology transfer opportunities and expand sales worldwide. Mission components will include a 2-3 day tours of the countries rapidly developing aquaculture industry, participation in the Aqua Sur 2018 show, one-on-one business meetings as required by companies, networking events (incl. Atlantic Canadian and Canadian Receptions), industry briefings and aquaculture site tours, processing facilities and research centers. The 2018 mission strives to build upon the successes of the Atlantic Canadian industry and explore potential opportunities within the Chilean and surrounding markets.

Currently, we envision working tours centered on trade development and technology transfer for both the shellfish and finfish industries. NAIA proposes to develop matchmaking opportunities for delegates through detailed due diligence, well in advance of the trade mission, related to the business lines and needs of potential delegates at Aqua Sur 2018. We propose to have relevant networking events for all delegates and workshop/seminar(s) with key industry specialists (including brokers, retailers, industry experts, wholesalers, government officials and embassy officers). Through this mission, NAIA will be providing direct exposure to companies from across Atlantic Canada to increase exports and explore the market potential in Chili and surrounding countries.

Some highlights of this year’s mission will include:

  • One-on-one business meetings (matchmaking services) for participating companies, as requested.
  • Tours to aquaculture operations within Chile.
  • Atlantic Canadian Delegates will be given visitor status within the Aqua Sur Tradeshow.
  • Access to other National and International workshops currently being organized during Aqua Sur 2018.

If sufficient interest is expressed, NAIA will apply to lead this Mission with support from ACOA.

Expressions of Interest should be submitted via email no later than January 31st, 2018 to:
